The Concept of Reincarnation
Reincarnation has always fascinated me. I don’t know what to
think about it, honestly. So many cultures and religions view reincarnation as
a real thing. Even the Christian Bible addresses reincarnation. Where did the
idea originate? I wonder when and where the concept first occurred to someone.
It had to come from somewhere, right? Maybe from the two year old toddler in
Greece speaking fluent French? Or the child who remembered a past life with
such clarity that adults in his/her life recognized the related stories as
fact? I suppose back then there were a lot less people in the world so a
reincarnated soul might make it back in the same neighborhood?
Which brings us to another logic tangent, if we’re
reincarnated and there are so many more people in the world now, where are all
those souls coming from? Following that tangent, there were a lot more animals
in the world, so are we sometimes living lives of humans and sometimes as
animals? That would explain some of the “animals” who commit such heinous
crimes.
The idea of reincarnation has been around for a long time.
The first reference occurred almost 2600 years ago. The Greeks call it Metempsychosis.
Sometimes the theory is that reincarnation is a spiritual growth, that there is
no regression, only an upwards ascent in spiritual growth. For astrology that is the case, that the 12
signs are steps to reaching Aquarius. Each sign exhibits qualities to show
growth and different stages of the reincarnated life, such as infant, child,
adult, and senior. For astrology the ascent is not necessarily a constant
spiral upwards. If a person does not learn their lessons they can be stuck at
one level or even regress to relearn lessons.
It’s a fascinating perspective, reincarnation. For the
storyteller reincarnation opens up so many worlds. In Echo Laurel I explore the
benefit to not remembering past lives.
